Team Uganda was officially flagged off to Lusaka on Friday May 31st for the upcoming Zambezi Hockey Series. The event will see the Uganda Hockey Cranes and Hockey She Cranes compete against teams from Zambia and Malawi from June 7th to 9th, 2024.
The matches will be held at the Olympic Youth Development Centre in Lusaka, Zambia.
During the flag-off ceremony, Mr. David Katende, Assistant General Secretary of the National Council of Sports (NCS), emphasized the significance of sports in personal and national development.
“Sports is a master tool, enabler and can take you places,” Katende remarked.
Uganda has prepared two robust squads for the series, sending 18 players each for the men’s team, the Hockey Cranes, and the women’s team, the Hockey She Cranes. The teams are expected to showcase their talents and compete vigorously against their regional counterparts.
The Zambezi Hockey Series is anticipated to provide valuable experience and exposure for the Ugandan teams, fostering growth and development in the sport within the region.
