The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has unveiled crucial information related to the upcoming 2024/2025 Interclub season. Uganda will be represented by SC Villa in the CAF Champions League and Kitara in the CAF Confederations Cup.
The 2024/2025 CAF Interclub season will kick off with the Preliminary Round, scheduled to take place between August 16 and 18, 2024. Clubs from various Member Associations will battle it out for a chance to progress further.
Following the preliminary matches, the Group Stages are set to occur between October and December 2024. Teams that successfully navigate this phase will secure their spots in the knockout rounds with the Knockout Phase and Final matches are slated for March to May 2025.
CAF has also confirmed the 12 highest-ranked Member Associations according to the CAF rankings. These associations will have the privilege of entering two clubs each into both the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
The distinguished national associations include: Algeria, Angola, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, DR Congo, South Africa, Sudan, Tunisia and Tanzania.
CAF also announced that it has opened the registration period for Member Associations to enroll their qualified clubs on the CAF Competitions Management System (CMS).
Notably, teams eliminated in the second round of the CAF Champions League will no longer transition into the CAF Confederation Cup. Instead, clubs advancing from the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup will proceed directly to the group stage of the competition.
