Uganda’s Impala Frisbee Club and Fort Portal Frisbee Club are set to compete in the 5th Lake Victoria Grass Ultimate Frisbee Tournament in Kisumu, Kenya, from June 8th to June 9th, 2024. Both the ladies’ and men’s teams from Uganda will challenge rivals from Kenya and Tanzania for the club championships title.
The tournament, a key event in the regional ultimate frisbee calendar, will see top teams from East Africa vie for supremacy on the grass fields of Kisumu. The Ugandan contingent, comprising skilled players from the Impala and Fortportal clubs, is poised to showcase their prowess and sportsmanship in this prestigious competition.
During the flag-off ceremony held at Lugogo, National Council of Sports (NCS) Assistant General Secretary, Mr. David Katende, encouraged the athletes to represent their country with pride.
“You are our sports ambassadors, represent Uganda well,” Mr. Katende remarked, emphasizing the importance of their role in promoting Uganda on an international stage.
The Lake Victoria Grass Ultimate Frisbee Tournament, now in its fifth edition, has become a vital platform for fostering regional cooperation and sportsmanship among East African nations. As the teams prepare for their upcoming matches, expectations are high for a display of competitive spirit and athletic excellence.
