Barcelona star Pedri scored twice as Spain completed their final warm-up match for Euro 2024 with a convincing 5-1 victory over Northern Ireland in Mallorca. The midfielder’s goals marked his first and second at the senior international level.
Spain’s head coach, Luis de la Fuente, has his team in excellent form heading into the tournament, with Pedri’s return to full fitness providing a significant boost to Spain’s midfield options. Pedri is set to start in the central midfield role, a critical position for La Roja as they aim for success in Germany.
Alvaro Morata is expected to lead Spain’s attack, supported by young talents Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams. Despite their limited international experience, with just 21 caps between them, and Yamal turning 17 on the eve of the final, Pedri is confident in their abilities.
“It’s spectacular to play with Nico Williams and Lamine, especially today, they give great width. You know that a ball into space is going to arrive, and it’s very comfortable to play with the two of them,” Pedri stated, as reported by Diario AS.
Spain’s first challenge at Euro 2024 will be against Croatia on June 15, with Lamine Yamal poised to make his major tournament debut.
