The Uganda Woodball Federation has announced the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) as the official sponsor for the 14th ICPAU Certified Woodball Championship 2024. The tournament will be hosted by St. Mary’s Kitooro Primary School in Uwengo district on June 15, 2024.
This year’s sponsorship package, valued at UGX 25 million, includes both cash and in-kind contributions, significantly supporting the event’s budget. ICPAU has consistently supported the Uganda Woodball Federation since 2010, facilitating the organization of the annual ICPAU Juniors Woodball Championships for primary and secondary schools.
The Championship has seen a steady increase in participation over the years, with the number of participants growing from 236 in 2015 to 600 in 2023.
This year, the Championship will welcome 600 participants from over 40 schools across various regions of Uganda. Schools qualified for the event through regional qualifiers held from February to May 2024.
The Uganda Woodball Federation continues to promote the sport nationwide, with activities last year in Mbale, Gulu, and Njeru. This year’s Junior Championship in Uwengo will be followed by the National Open Woodball Championship in Soroti.
