The Uganda Boxing Champions League is set to resume on June 22, 2024, at the NCS Arena in Lugogo, following an action-packed Week 2 at Club Obligato on June 8, 2024. The third week of competition promises an exciting lineup with over 18 bouts scheduled, headlined by a much-anticipated showdown between Bombers’ Captain Matovu Ukasha from Cobap Boxing Club and Mukwaya Edward from Kiwatule Boxing Club.
In preparation for the bout, NBS Sport visited Matovu Ukasha during a rigorous training session in Kawempe. Ukasha, competing in the 67kg weight category, expressed confidence in maintaining his position.
His coach, Lawrence Kayago, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Matovu is in top form and ready to defend his title. We are confident in his ability to overcome any challenge.” Support from Ukasha’s fans and clubmates has been equally strong, underscoring their belief in his capabilities.
Mukwaya Edward, equally determined, has also been preparing intensively for the fight. Edward’s coach, Swaibu Mayanja, voiced his confidence in Edward’s readiness, declaring their intent to dethrone Ukasha.
“Edward is well-prepared and focused. We are ready to take on Ukasha and claim victory,” said Mayanja, backed by the enthusiasm of Edward’s supporters.
The league’s return is eagerly awaited by boxing fans, who can look forward to a thrilling week of bouts broadcast live on NBS Sport.
