Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) has launched its inaugural summer camp at Lugogo, running from June 17th to 21st. The camp, designed for boys and girls in the U13, U16, and U20 categories, has attracted 35 participants, primarily from international schools. This marks a significant milestone for the club, as it extends its reach to a diverse group of young athletes.
Emmanuel Elanyu, the club’s Youth Development Coordinator, is overseeing the event. Known for its long-standing annual December camp, now in its 24th edition, the club aims to provide a robust platform for young volleyball players to enhance their skills and potentially join the senior team.
“The summer camp’s objective is to provide a platform for young players to improve their skills, widen the club’s reach, and contribute to the development and growth of volleyball in Uganda, scouting talented kids for senior teams,” said Elanyu.
Elanyu also revealed plans to make the summer camp an annual event as the club aims to empower the next generation of volleyball players in Uganda.
During the camp, participants will be taken through rigorous training sessions aimed at enhancing their technical and tactical skills with outstanding performers considered for the senior team.
