The City Oilers Basketball Club secured a hard-fought victory against the Namuwongo Blazers Basketball Club, winning 67-58 in their latest National Basketball League (NBL) Men 2024 match.
City Oilers demonstrated superior play, particularly in the second half, to seal their win. Mer Maker led the Oilers with an impressive performance, scoring 22 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Ben Komakech also contributed significantly with 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.
The Oilers started strong, leading 15-9 after the first quarter. The Blazers improved in the second quarter but still trailed 30-25 at halftime. Despite a close third quarter, the Oilers maintained their lead, entering the final period up 50-40.
For the Blazers, Peter Cheng was the standout player, scoring 12 points and securing 6 rebounds. Chuol Nyuot and Jimmy Williams added 5 and 6 points respectively, but their efforts were not enough to overcome the Oilers’ dominance.
