In a response to recent media reports, the reigning StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions, SC Villa have refuted claims of signing a new assistant coach, provided an update conserning player departure, and claimed the signing of striker Emmanuel Ajo from Busoga United.
Various media outlets had reported the signing of experienced Serbian coach Momcilo Medic as the club’s new assistant manager, set to join his fellow Serbian compatriot, head coach Dusan Stojanovic.
However, SC Villa’s Public Relations Officer, AIGP (Rtd) Asan Kasingye, has categorically denied these claims.
Kasingye took to his official X platform to set the record straight, stating, “This is to officially inform the public and our @SCVillaJogoo fans that contrary to some media posts; 1. We have not hired any other coach. Our coaches remain Dušan Stojanović, Head coach and Molly Byekwaso Ochama, Assistant coach.”
The refutation of the assistant coach signing comes as a surprise, as the media had widely reported the appointment of Momcilo Medic, who boasts a wealth of experience from over two decades of coaching across Africa and beyond.
However, the club has maintained that Molly Byekwaso Ochama remains the assistant coach, working alongside head coach Dusan Stojanovic.
In addition to clarifying the coaching staff, Kasingye also announced that the club has completed the signing of striker Emmanuel Ajo from Busoga United.
This move comes after NEC had earlier unveiled Ajo as their player, signing him to a three-year contract.
Kasingye insists that Ajo is now a SC Villa player, having been recruited from Busoga United, and the club officially registered him with the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).
“4. The club has completed the signing of Emmanuel Ajo from @Busogautdfc with @OfficialFUFA.” He posted, on his official X platform on Monday afternoon.
Kasingye also provided updates on the status of some players, stating that Gavin Kizito has been released from the team due to disciplinary issues. He noted that Patrick Jonah Kakande and Diego Semugera are still contracted players with the club and are currently training with the rest of the squad.
In addition to the clarifications, the retired Assistant Inspector General of Police also announced that the club has finalised registration to participate in both CAF & CECAFA, and also announced the acquisition of a new team doctor known as Dr. Tyson Taremwa.
