BG Pathum United has announced the signing of Ugandan descent winger Melvyn Lorenzen ahead of the 2024/25 season.
“When I was playing in Thai League 2, some people asked where I’d like to move to, and I’ve always said BG Pathum United,” revealed Melvyn after completing his move from the second tier to Thai League 1 with the Rabbits.
“When I hear BG Pathum United – I think big club. I heard from other players that the training facilities are extremely professional. The whole package you get at BG is like a European team. I want to become a champion. That’s my goal for next season,” he added via the team’s website.
Born in London to a German mother and a Ugandan father, Melvyn represented the Bundesliga side Werder Bremen between 2013 and 2017 and later joined Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag between 2017 and 2019. In the 2023/24 season, Melvyn made his move to Thailand when he signed with Thai League 2 club Nakhonratchasima Mazda FC. Melvyn netted 16 goals and created 11 assists from 34 league appearances in Thai League 2 to help the Swatcat secure promotion to Thai League 1.
