WEHAT Foundation and Uganda Golf Club Join Forces for Educational Fundraiser

The WEHAT Foundation, in collaboration with the Uganda Golf Club, is hosting a fundraising event titled “Empowering Education through the Lens” on July 5, 2024. This event aims to support educational initiatives for underprivileged children in Uganda, combining a Charity Golf Tournament with a Photo Exhibition to create a dynamic and culturally enriching experience.

The Uganda Golf Club in Kitante, will serve as the venue. The day’s activities begin with registration and breakfast, followed by the tournament’s tee-off. Participants can enjoy on-course refreshments throughout the day, with the event concluding with an evening awards ceremony, the opening of the photo exhibition, and a dinner and auction.

The tournament will feature a diverse group of participants, including club members, business leaders, government officials, and other notable figures. This variety ensures broad support and visibility for the cause, with participation fees directly aiding fundraising efforts. The tournament promises both friendly competition and valuable networking opportunities, all in the name of education.

Accompanying the golf tournament is a photo exhibition showcasing the work of Molly Kabamoli, who, under the mentorship of renowned photojournalist Faith Ariho, has captured stunning images of gorillas in Bwindi National Park and the local community. These photographs will be auctioned during the event, offering attendees a chance to support educational initiatives while also highlighting Uganda’s tourism potential.

The WEHAT Foundation has crafted comprehensive sponsorship packages to facilitate contributions from businesses and individuals. Gold Sponsorships (UGX 5,000,000) include exhibition space, press conference participation, media communications, and branding opportunities, while Silver Sponsorships (UGX 4,000,000) offer similar benefits with additional flexibility in branding and exposure.

Fundraising efforts will be bolstered through multiple channels: ticket sales for corporate teams, individual participants, and guests; sales of limited edition prints from the photo exhibition; and corporate sponsorships and individual donations. The goal is to raise UGX 150 million, which will fund key initiatives such as covering school fees for 20 students for a year, revamping and rehabilitating a school, and supporting various educational programs, including providing learning materials and facilitating alternative learning opportunities for out-of-school children.

The WEHAT Foundation emphasizes the importance of community support in addressing educational challenges in Uganda. This event is not only a fundraiser but also a platform to mobilize community action. Participation, whether through the tournament, photo exhibition, or sponsorship, can make a tangible difference.

For more information on how to participate or support, please contact the WEHAT Foundation at [email protected] or visit their website.
