The FUFA TV Cup Round of 64 of the traditional schools tournament got off to a thrilling start, with the first leg showcasing a blend of upsets, convincing wins, and standout individual performances that have set the tone for a captivating tournament.
Among the eight pioneers of the FUFA TV Cup, Busoga College Mwiri emerged victorious, defeating Iganga High School 1-0.
Meanwhile, three other pioneers, Mengo Senior School, Jinja College, and Kiira College Butiki, suffered unexpected defeats at the hands of newcomers Ndejje Senior Secondary School, Bukooli College, and Bukoyo Senior Secondary School, respectively.
Namilyango College, King’s College Budo, and Makerere College School showed their determination and talent, earning draws against Mehta SS, Gombe SSS, and Lubiri SS, respectively.
Hakim Folly, a prolific forward from Jinja SS, stole the show with a four-goal performance in a resounding 6-0 win over St Don Bosco Kamuli. Folly’s remarkable display contributed to a total of 63 goals in the first leg and earned him the top scorer spot.
As the competition heats up, teams will clash in the return leg of the Round of 64 on July 5th-7th, 2024, battling to secure a spot in the Round of 32.
