The Rugby Cranes 15s have returned from a rigorous training camp in South Africa, primed for the upcoming Rugby Africa Cup.

Timothy Mudoola, the team’s strength and conditioning coach, expressed confidence in the team’s readiness following a series of high-intensity trial games.

“The trial games we had in South Africa were much harder than what we shall face here at Namboole. I believe the boys can get the job done,” Mudoola stated.

With the Rugby Africa Cup set to commence on July 18th, Mudoola acknowledged that the team needs to address a few areas of improvement identified during their time in South Africa.

“We now need to fine-tune a few issues we identified during the South Africa camp and then we are good to go,” he noted.

Mudoola reflected on the expectations the team had before the camp and the significant lessons learned.

“Before we left for the South Africa camp, there were expectations we had in mind. However, in South Africa, we learned much more in terms of discipline, team appearance, and mental toughness, among others,” he explained.

He also praised the South African trial games for their intensity, which tested the Rugby Cranes’ limits and imparted crucial lessons.

“South Africa is known for brutal rugby and those three trial games we had taught us a lot,” Mudoola remarked.

Uganda is poised to host seven other nations in the Rugby Africa Cup at the Namboole Stadium.
