FUFA Judicial Bodies convened on Tuesday, July 10, 2024, to review the 2023/24 football season and evaluate the handling of judicial matters.
The meeting, held at the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), was attended by FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim and key FUFA officials, including Sam Mpiima, Edgar Watson, Sam Bakiika, and Dr. Azah Taib.
The primary focus of the meeting was to reflect on the previous season’s performance and outline strategies for improving the delivery of justice in the upcoming season.
FUFA President Magogo lauded the Judicial Bodies for their diligent efforts in maintaining fair play and governance within Ugandan football.
“The people behind the judicial processes at FUFA have done a great job. On behalf of the Executive, I would like to thank you for the selfless efforts in keeping the game clean by making verdicts that make football the beautiful game,” he stated.
Magogo emphasized the importance of addressing match-fixing and hooliganism, highlighting FUFA’s commitment to implementing stringent sanctions to ensure a clean sport.
He also recognized the efforts of the FUFA Legal Office, headed by Denis Lukambi, for their support in delivering justice.
Key outcomes from the meeting included a decision to migrate the FUFA Judicial Process to an online system starting from the 2024/25 season, aimed at streamlining case management.
Additionally, FUFA plans to enhance sensitization programs for stakeholders, ensuring they are well-informed about judicial processes.
FUFA Executive Secretary for Governance, Sam Mpiima, expressed satisfaction with the judicial decisions made, emphasizing their positive impact on the game.
Dr. Azah Taib, Chairperson of the FUFA Judicial Commission, reiterated the importance of educating the public and football community to build trust in the judicial system.
The meeting also noted a decrease in registered cases, attributed to improved knowledge among players, referees, and club officials on how to submit complaints for justice.
