Kyobe Jonathan of Lukanga Boxing Club is set to make his return in week five of Season Three of the Uganda Boxing Champions League.
The seasoned boxer, who also works in the obituary section in Kalerwe will face Mawanda Frank of Kololo Boxing Club on July 20, 2024, at the NCS Arena in Lugogo.
Kyobe represented Uganda at the 2022 Africa Boxing Championship in Maputo, where he won a bronze medal and secured second place in the featherweight category.
Speaking to NBS Sport ahead of his July 20th fight, Kyobe expressed confidence in his ability to defend his position.
“I am very ready for this fight. I have been in training for eight months, and today is the first time I’ve come out. I have been preparing for that boy, who I don’t even know. On the 20th, I will show everyone that he is just a boy,” Kyobe stated.
Regarding his status as the main fighter of the night, he added, “This is not news. It’s Mawanda who is going to make a name because he will be facing me. I have done it all, including winning a medal and bringing it home. He is going to play with a champion.”
