A delegation from the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), led by the Chairman of the FUFA Tv Cup Organising Committee, Dr. Apollo Ahimbisibwe, paid an official visit to Lubiri Secondary School to discuss football-related matters.
Representing FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim, the delegation included Communications Director Ahmed Hussein and referees Manager Samuel Egesa, along with Benjamin Ashaba Aheebwa.
The visit aimed to discuss the ongoing FUFA Tv Cup, held under the theme ‘Excellence in academics and sports.’
The FUFA Tv Cup was introduced to re-establish football in traditional academic institutions.
Dr. Ahimbisibwe highlighted the struggles of traditional schools in participating in school competitions and emphasized their significant contributions to Ugandan football.
“Most, if not all, traditional schools in Uganda provide a conducive environment for students to play their favorite sports,” he noted.
During the meeting, Lubiri SS Headteacher Agatha Ssenyonjo expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the FUFA Tv Cup.
“I thank FUFA for granting us an opportunity to play in the second edition. Our school is very much interested in taking part in all competitions, but football being the most liked sport, we shall do all it takes to support the football team,” she said.
The discussions also covered Lubiri SS’s appeal against their expulsion from the competition for breaching competition rules.
FUFA assured that the appeal would follow the established judicial processes to reach a final verdict.
As a token of appreciation, the FUFA delegation presented a souvenir, the FUFA official competition match ball, to Headteacher Ssenyonjo.
