Long-serving midfielder Saidi Kyeyune has officially departed from URA following the expiration of his three-year contract, which he signed upon his return to the club in 2021 after a brief stint with Sudanese side El Merrikh.
Kyeyune joined The Tax Collectors from Maroons in 2011 and quickly became an integral part of the team.
Over his decade-long tenure, he played a pivotal role in securing several trophies for the club, including the Uganda Cup and the Mapinduzi Cup. Additionally, he represented URA in the CAF Confederation Cup.
In 2018, Kyeyune left URA for Proline but made a notable return to his former club.
His standout performances at the 2021 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Cameroon earned him a move to El Merrikh in Sudan, although his time there was brief. He rejoined URA the same year.
Last season, Kyeyune was honored with the captain’s armband, leading the team to an 8th place finish in the league.
In their farewell message to their midfielder, URA expressed interest in welcoming Kyeyune back in a support staff role in the future.
