South Sudan Women’s League giants Yei Joint Stars have strengthened their squad with the signing of Ugandan international Lilian Mutuuzo.
The forward, who joins from 2022/2024 Uganda Women’s League champions Kampala Queens WFC, is expected to bolster the team’s attacking line-up as they gear up for their fourth attempt in the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zonal qualifiers.
The qualifiers will be held from August 17-31 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. During the draw conducted last week at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, Yei Joint Stars were placed in Group A alongside Commercial Bank of Ethiopia WFC, Kenya Police Bullets, Warriors Queens (Zanzibar) WFC, and Rayon Sports Women from Rwanda.
Group B will feature Tanzania’s Simba Queens WFC, PVP Buyenzi (Burundi), Kawempe Muslim Ladies (Uganda), and FAD Djibouti.
Yusuf Mossi, the CECAFA Competitions Manager, explained that the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-final stage.
The winner of the tournament will represent the Zone in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.
