Hatton fears the 11-year age gap and Mayweather’s speed will turn the match into a one-sided affair.
“I don’t think Mike will get near him and he’ll be a human punching bag,” Hatton said. “I think Mike could really end up getting hurt.”

Hatton believes the financial incentive is the only reason the fight is moving forward and that the decision should be taken out of the boxers’ hands to prevent them from doing harm to themselves.

Mike Tyson, 59, a former undisputed heavyweight champion, shared his surprise at the match-up. “This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen,” Tyson said.

“However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets.” The fight will follow Tyson’s recent return to the ring in a controversial defeat against Jake Paul.

Floyd Mayweather, 48, who retired with an undefeated 50-0 professional record, has participated in several exhibition bouts since leaving professional boxing in 2017.

He last fought John Gotti III last August. “You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and it’s going to be legendary,” Mayweather stated. “I’m the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want.”

As with other exhibition bouts, the outcome of the match will not be recorded on either fighter’s official career record.
