Former Ugandan Seed 1, Kayanja Ibra, also known as Musilamu, delivered a masterclass performance to claim the Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) End-of-Year Championship title in one of the most electrifying finals witnessed in recent years.

Facing Zambia’s top shooter Kelvin “Fikoti” Nkandu in a pulsating men’s final, Kayanja showcased resilience and brilliance to secure a 9-7 victory.

The End of Year tournament gained added prestige this year, with the participation of Zambia’s finest, Nkandu and Moses Mofya, who have been in Uganda for two months preparing for the competition.

The final was a spectacle of skill and determination. Nkandu stormed to an early 3-1 lead, silencing the Ugandan supporters.

However, Kayanja launched a spirited fightback, thrilling the crowd as he overturned the deficit to lead 7-4.

But just when it seemed the Ugandan had the title within reach, Nkandu unleashed a fierce response, leveling the match at 7-7.

Amid mounting tension, Kayanja demonstrated exceptional composure, sealing the victory at 9-7 to reclaim glory on home soil.

The road to the title was no less impressive, with Kayanja defeating Uganda’s current Seed 1, Caesar Chandiga, alongside other formidable opponents such as Ssejemba Ibra and Kazibwe Ian.

In the women’s category, Naiga Rukia emerged victorious after defeating her sister, Mutesi Rashida, in an all-family showdown.

Nimusiima Ritah claimed third place, while 2024 National Open Champion and pool queen, Kisakye Marion, finished fourth.

The event underscored Uganda’s growing prominence in the pool sport, blending fierce competition with camaraderie.

With the Zambian players staying in Uganda until February 2025, fans can anticipate more exciting encounters in the months ahead.
