The 2022/23 StarTimes Uganda Premier League got underway over the weekend with 14 of the 15 teams in action.
A total of 19 goals from seven games were scored on match-day one with 10 of them coming in two games as Maroons and BUL FC defeated Busoga United and Blacks Power 5-0, respectively.
Fred Amaku (brace), Isaac Mpagi, Solomon Walusimbi and Noel Nasasira scored for Maroons while Richard Wandyaka (brace), Karim Ndugwa (brace) and Jerome Kirya struck for BUL.
Record champions SC Villa opened the season with a commanding 2-0 home win at home to Gaddafi at Wankulukuku stadium.
Captain Gift Fred opened the scoring in the 17th minute before Andrew Waiswa ‘s own goal 2 minutes from time to seal the win for Jackson Mager’s side.
On Friday, holders Vipers SC opened their title defence with a disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Soltilo Bright Stars.
In Nakisunga, URA were also held to a goalless draw by much-changed Onduparaka FC.
UPDF FC required a Farid Rashid equalizer in the 1-1 draw with Express FC in Bombo. Debutant Allan Kayiwa had earlier handed the visitors the lead six minutes into the second half.
At Lugogo, KCCA FC held on to defeated Wakiso Giants 3-2. Ashraf Mugume set the tone for the hosts with a brace while Geoffrey Wasswa scored the other goal.

Arua Hill who were slatted to take on now-relegated Kyetume FC, sat out match-day one but will face KCCA FC on Friday in their opening fixture.
