FUFA has acquired a new partner for their inter-province competition, the FUFA Drum. The sponsorship package worth UGX 120M from Hariss International through their energy drink brand-Rock Boom, was unveiled on Tuesday at the company premises in Kawempe.
The partnership will run for a period of one year, covering the entire 2023 Edition.
According to Mahmoud Seblini, the Senior Sales and Marketing Operations Manager, Hariss International indicated through their flagship brand Rockboom they seek to support and reach out to the community through football.
“Sports and football to be exact is a good way of getting to our customers. We have observed the passion that comes with the FUFA Drum and we believe with our effort, the tournament will even become better,” he said.
FUFA President Moses Magogo who attended the event believes this will be a good step in promoting a tournament that touches everyone.
“Our vision is to become the number one footballing nation in Africa on and off the field and we can only achieve this by promoting, developing and protecting the game. FUFA Drum is one of the avenues we use to promote football,” Magogo said.
“As FUFA, we are glad to have Rock Boom on board as partners of the FUFA Drum. We believe this is a tournament that touches everyone regardless of tribe, race, gender or background. This partnership will help us to promote football across the country,” he added.
Rogers Byamukama, the FUFA Drum Committee Chairman indicated the tournament has grown and continues to attract corporate brands.
“It is important to have a platform (tournament) that brands like Rock Boom can embrace to ensure that we keep promoting football in this country. We believe Rock Boom will get value for money and we are equally happy to associate with them,” Byamukama stated.
FUFA Drum started in 2018 and is competed amongst 16 provinces namely; Buganda, Kigezi, Tooro, Ankole, Busoga, Teso, Lango, Acholi, Bukedi, West Nile, Sebei, Karamoja, Kitara, Kampala, Bunyoro and Bugisu.
West Nile Province are the tournament’s reigning champions. The 2023 campaign is expected to start in May.
