With the Nile Special 7s opening round just days away, set to take place this weekend at the Dam Waters in Jinja, Plascon Mongers, a rugby team based in Entebbe, unveiled their new kit provided by their sponsors, Kansai Plascon. The kit unveiling event, which also included the presentation of new jerseys for the Mongers Junior side, was held at the Plascon offices in the industrial area on Tuesday.
In addition to the new jerseys, Plascon Mongers received a range of equipment to enhance their training sessions. Tackle bags, balls, and gym equipment were among the items provided by their sponsors. The Samurai-manufactured red and blue full kit consisted of both a home and away kit, as well as a separate kit for the junior side, Jjengos.
The media briefing, held to announce the sponsorship and showcase the new kit, was attended by several key individuals, including Plascon Uganda Managing Director Santosh Gumte, brand manager Daniel Kayongo, Mongers chairman Elijah Kitooke Segawa, the team’s sevens head coach Trevor Tusiime, and the players themselves.
Daniel Kayongo expressed his belief that the new kit would boost the team’s morale as they prepared for the upcoming Stone City 7s tournament. He emphasized Kansai Plascon’s commitment to Ugandan sports and their desire to ensure that Mongers’ training and preparation for the games were of the highest quality.
Elijah Kitooke Segawa, chairman of Plascon Mongers, expressed his gratitude for the strong working relationship between the club and Plascon. He announced that the team would debut their new kit in the upcoming Nile Special 7s tournament and acknowledged the significant support provided by Plascon.
Captain Morgan Cheche and his assistant Joseph Mugisha welcomed the sponsorship as a timely boost for the team. Last season, the Mongers finished 7th in the Nile Special Rugby Premiership, and they believe the new sponsorship will enhance their performance and prospects for the upcoming season.
