In the heart of Ugandas football scene, Kitara Football Club stands as a beacon of success. Kitara FC,
who recently secured a spot in the top tier division has left a remarkable footprint with their unbeaten
streak in their opening Startimes Uganda Premier League games against SC Villa, UPDF and Gaddafi. The
club’s head coach, Brian Ssenyondo, shared his thoughts and ambitions for the upcoming game against
KCCA FC in an exclusive interview with NBS Premier Sport.
Coach Ssenyondo who signed with the club at the start of the 2023/24 season didn’t mince words when
discussing his club’s approach to their next game. He revealed that the opposing team has been in Hoima
for the past 5 days training for this encounter,“Of course they are a big team and we don’t
underestimate them because this could be the fixture they want to bounce back on but my players are
going through rigorous training sessions, we are not focusing on KCCA we are focusing on what we need
to do to win; he said. With a team that is yet to lose a single game in the ongoing season, the coach’s
confidence is palpable.
SUPL table leaders Kitara FC’s exceptional performance in the Uganda Premier League speaks to the
dedication of both the coaching staff and the players. Promoted to the top-tier division after winning the
FUFA Big League’s second division last season, the team has taken the league by storm, winning the
hearts of fans along the way. Coach Ssenyondo also stresses that the club has been extremely supportive
financially and has consistently put the players first.
A Proud Moment: Denis Omed’s Continental Representation
Coach Ssenyondo was also quick to share a proud moment, highlighting the achievements of one of his
star players, Denis Omedi. Omedi, who has consistently demonstrated remarkable skills on the pitch, is
now representing Uganda on the continental stage, first with the Cranes against Mali and will be with
the team as they meet Zambia in Dubai for their second international friendly.
“Denis Omedi’s journey from our club to representing our country on the continental level is a testament
to his hard work and dedication” Ssenyondo said. “We are all incredibly proud of him, and it’s an
inspiration to our team”.
As the club continues to thrive and enjoy an undefeated streak, they are poised for another victory in
their upcoming game against KCCA FC that is limping in 3 rd place from the bottom of the table after losing
all their opening league games. The match promises to be an exciting clash between two of Uganda’s
football powerhouses, and fans are eager to witness the spectacle that is set to happen at Kitara fc’s
home in Masindi on Friday 20th October.
