Thirty-year-old Epakan Ekaale, a staunch Arsenal fan and resident of Loreng’esinyen village in Letea Ward, Turkana West, Kenya, has named her triplets after Arsenal players: Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Maghales.
Epakan disclosed her surprise upon being informed by the nurse that she would be delivering more than one baby.
Kelvin Kiptum, the attending nurse, confirmed that the triplets, whose arrival they anticipated through ultrasound tests, were delivered naturally and safely.
After her safe delivery, Arsenal fans have since been flocking to the thirty-year-old, bringing gifts for the newborns.
“I was surprised when I was told that I would give birth to more than one baby, but I thank God I delivered safely with the help of health workers,” she said.
Within a mere five hours, Arsenal supporters in Kakuma pooled funds to procure essential items to support the triplets.
Emma Nasuru, spearheading the initiative, said they have donated baby formula, laundry detergent, bathing soap, diapers, and clothing, promptly delivering them to the newborn unit on Monday.
She disclosed that the mother of the triplets agreed to name her babies after three prominent Arsenal players: Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Maghales.
“We plan to provide additional support, including food supplies, and ensure regular check-ins after the mother’s discharge,” Nasuru said.
Ekaale, the mother of triplets, is grappling with mixed emotions over the triple blessing while expressing deep concerns about providing for her family’s needs.
She says she only depends on meager earnings from selling charcoal, as she faces daunting challenges ahead.
