The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) is set to host All-Star Games in celebration of International Women’s Day. This was revealed by Racheal Ainamasiko, the Women’s Commissioner at FUBA, during an interview on NBS Premier Sport.
Racheal disclosed that there will be two games featuring four teams. The All-Stars game will showcase players from the top flight, while the Rising Stars game will highlight players under 23. All the action will unfold on March 8th at MTN Arena Lugogo, with gates opening at 2 PM.
Discussing the team composition, Racheal explained that a draw will determine which team the players will represent.
“We have nominated the players and selected the captains. Ritah Imanishimwe from the JKL Dolphins will lead Team A, while Peruth Nyamwenge from the KCCA Leopards will lead Team B,” she said.
“We plan to conduct a draw where players will randomly select teams to play for,” she added.
Racheal also unveiled plans to involve female celebrities in the event’s activities.
“We will invite female celebrities to participate in some of the activities. Shooting and skills challenges will be organized for the attendees,” she mentioned.
Beyond the court, the event will incorporate women’s health awareness activities, where experts and stakeholders will engage with attendees on crucial health issues.
“We aim for this day to be more than just about basketball,” emphasized Ainamasiko. “It’s an opportunity to celebrate women’s accomplishments, raise awareness about health, and inspire the next generation of female athletes,” she concluded.
