KCCA have this evening snatched a late winner against Vipers in the UPL at their home ground in Kitende after a late penalty, netted by substitute Mustafa Kizza, who came in the 88th minute for Etienne Katanga, gave KCCA the pride in the rivalry after a rightly taken penalty following a handball in the box. This means that KCCA have had a double against their rivals.
A nail-biting game saw both sides attempting goals; however, the Venoms dominated during the first half and early in the second half, with Allan Okello, an old boy of KCCA, nearly shocking the visitors with a cheeky goal attempt that was thwarted by goalkeeper Emojong Alert.
Vipers Coach Livingston Mbabazi demonstrated how badly he needed the game to keep their title hopes alive when he, at some point, assumed the duties of the ball boy on the touchline. The highly competitive game showed why it’s arguably the biggest game in the UPL.
KCCA now stand in 8th position with 29 points after 20 games played, while the loss has pushed Vipers to 5th position with 35 points after 19 games played which is played a major role in pushing them away from the title race.
With the club patron Lawrence Mulindwa witnessing the painful loss, many questions loom over the future of Livingston Mbabazi at the club.
