Ronnie Santos Mwine, a journalist and a sports agent, has come out to assert that Yanga’s Gift Fred gave him no penny, having brokered a 1.5 billion shilling deal which saw the player earning 12 million per month with the Tanzanian based club. Ronnie took to his social media handle, X, and said, ‘This chap was earning 600k monthly in Kampala. I brokered a deal for him to earn more than 12M monthly. The last time I talked to him is the day the club banked his money. The entire package of his deal is close to 1.5B. Trust Ugandan players at your own risk,’ crying foul play on the deal by the Uganda Cranes defender. When reached for a comment on his post, the journalist was hesitant to give more details.
It should be noted that the Prosper Sports Agency was the one reported to have brokered the deal, and Gift Fred is one of the players signed to the sports agency. When Dennis Namanya,Director of the agency, was contacted for a comment, he said, ‘Let Ronnie Santos show the contract he signed with Gift Fred, and this would conclude the debate.’ However, he also added by saying that Santos has reasons why he made the post, so he can’t argue with him about that topic.
This is not the first time the agent Ronnie is crying foul play after transfer deals. It should be noted that in 2022, he ‘cursed’ Steven Mukwala after he claimed that the player had sidelined him from the Kotoko deal. He was also once arrested in Kisumu in 2021 for match fixing allegations for trying to bribe four Western Stima players and the team manager in order to lose their match against KCB.
