Uganda’s team for this year’s World Cross Country Championships has settled in Belgrade, Serbia, in preparation for the event scheduled for March 30th. The team arrived in Belgrade following a send-off by the National Council of Sports (NCS) chairman, Ambrose Tashyobya, on Wednesday.
Leading the team are defending champion Jacob Kiplimo and Joshua Cheptegei, whom he dethroned last year in Australia. Annet Chesanga will lead the women’s team, accompanied by Benjamin Ngiya as the team’s coach.
Cheptegei and Kiplimo departed on Tuesday, while the rest of the team left on Wednesday night.
The contingent comprises 27 athletes who will compete in various categories: 10KM for seniors, 8KM for junior men, 6KM for junior women, and a mixed relay of 4X2 KM.
