Absa Bank Uganda Announces Sponsorship for 2024 Captain’s Bell Tournament

Absa Bank Uganda has announced its sponsorship of the upcoming 2024 edition of the Captain’s Bell Tournament, with a package totaling UGX 152,000,000. Scheduled for May 18, 2024, at the Uganda Golf Club in Kitante, this annual event is a platform for the incoming Captain to introduce his new management team.

“We are thrilled to continue to support this tournament whose contribution to nurturing and growing the sport cannot be understated. This sponsorship underscores our profound reverence for the game of golf in Uganda, epitomized by the time-honored tradition embodied in the ringing of the Captain’s Bell.”

Captain Paul Charles Rukundo and Vice Captain Jerry Owachi, have been entrusted with leading the club’s initiatives. Absa Uganda’s Managing Director Mumba Kalifungwa expressed the bank’s excitement in continuing its support for the tournament and also emphasized the tournament’s pivotal role in nurturing and advancing the sport of golf in Uganda.

The 2024 edition promises to be another thrilling event, set to unfold on May 18 at the Uganda Golf Club in Kitante. Professional golfers will compete for a prize pool of UGX 20,000,000. Last years event  saw Anne Abeja and Vincent Katusi clinching victory in the amateur category, while Marvin Kibirige emerged triumphant in the professional category.

Captain of Uganda Golf Club, Paul Charles Rukundo, shared his enthusiasm, highlighting the event’s longstanding tradition of uniting exceptional players, colleagues, and friends. He expressed gratitude for Absa Bank Uganda’s steadfast support, which has played a pivotal role in fostering the growth of golf in Uganda.
