Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has expressed confidence in Harry Kane’s ability to shine at Euro 2024, tipping the England captain to contend for the top goalscorer title.
Mourinho, who previously coached Kane at Tottenham, regrets not winning trophies with the prolific striker during their tenure.
“Harry is a fantastic, complete player who scores goals from all over the pitch but isn’t selfish – he assists, drops deep, builds play, presses, defends,” Mourinho remarked. He believes Kane’s only missing ingredient for success is a major trophy.
Reflecting on his time at Tottenham, Mourinho recalls the disappointment of being sacked just before the Carabao Cup final in 2021, a moment where he hoped to secure silverware with Kane leading the line.
Switching focus to Euro 2024, Mourinho emphasized Portugal’s prospects, considering them among the top contenders for the title alongside Spain, France, England, and Germany. He praised the depth and quality of the Portuguese squad, highlighting their potential to clinch victory in Germany.
