Titans End Namblazers’ Unbeaten Streak

In a tightly contested game, the KIU Titans emerged victorious against the Namuwongo Blazers with a final score of 74-71. Coming into the game, both the Titans and the Namblazers hadn’t lost a game in the second round.

The Titans led marginally in most quarters, with period scores of 18-15, 19-26, 18-11, and 19-19, respectively. The final moments of the game were intense, with the Titans maintaining a slim lead.

At 00:05 in the fourth period, Innocent Ochera’s 2-point jump shot missed, which could have turned the game around for the Nambazers. Moments later, Makiadi Micheal also missed a crucial layup, allowing the Titans to secure the rebound and ultimately the win.

Key performances came from both sides. For the Namuwongo Blazers, Innocent Ochera led with 22 points in 29 minutes of play. Jimmy Williams contributed significantly with a double-double, scoring 16 points and securing 12 rebounds. Peter Cheng added 14 points and 8 rebounds.

On the other side, the KIU Titans’ Joel Lukoji was instrumental, scoring 16 points and providing 8 assists. Kasereka Tembo and Mpiya Juf added 13 and 10 points, respectively, with Juf also grabbing 7 rebounds.

The Blazers had a field goal percentage of 33% compared to the Titans’ 39%. Both teams struggled with free throws, with the Blazers at 59% and the Titans at 45%. The KIU Titans outrebounded the Blazers 49 to 45 and led in assists with 16 compared to the Blazers’ 7.

This victory puts the KIU Titans just one point behind the Namblazers who are still leading the table standings with 34 points.
