The newly-appointed head coach of Vipers SC Nikola Kavazovic has stated that he plans to only work with players that are disciplined and determined to work with him.
During his unveiling at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on Tuesday morning, the 48-year-old made it clear that discipline will be the driving force behind his tenure.
“I send a clear message to my players that discipline will be vital,” Kavazović declared with unwavering conviction. “They may be stars in Uganda, but to me, they’re just my players. If they don’t adapt, they’ll find it hard for me.”
Kavazovic went ahead to state that besides the disciplinary focus, he also has a vision to transform the team using the existing squad, but with his own distinctive touch.
“I want to bring something new with the club, using the same players but with my own new spice,” he revealed. “Everything will be different.”
The Serbian is also unfazed by the pressure that awaits him at the club, asserting that he has worked at top clubs and is used to pressure.
“I have worked in 11 different countries with top clubs. I’m used to pressure, pressure is my middle name, I’m very functional under pressure.”
Kavazovic replaces Livingstone Mbabazi, who was sacked by the club in April. He signed a two-year contract, subject to renewal, and becomes the second Serbian manager currently in the Uganda Premier League, joining Dusan Stojanovic, who led SC Villa to the 2023/24 league title.
Kavazovic joins the Venoms from Ethiopian Coffee SC, where he guided the team to a third-place finish in the Ethiopian Premier League last season, just 10 points behind champions Ethiopia Nigd Bank.
