Uganda has been pitted against South Africa, Congo Brazzaville, and neighbors South Sudan in Group K of the draws for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers.
The draw was conducted on Thursday in Johannesburg, South Africa, by Ivory Coast Head Coach Emerse Faé and former Morocco international Marouane Chamakh.
Uganda, placed in Pot 2, will face strong competition from Pot A’s South Africa, Pot 3’s Congo, and Pot 4’s South Sudan. The qualification games are scheduled for September, October, and November this year. Only the top two teams from each group, except the group with hosts Morocco, will qualify for the final tournament.
Uganda, aiming to return to the AFCON after missing the last two editions, has its sights set on the coveted championship. The nation is also preparing to co-host the 2027 AFCON edition with Tanzania and Kenya.
