FIFA World Cup record holders Brazil will not play a part in the 2024 Copa America semifinals.
The Selecao were dumped out by Uruguay 4-2 in the post match shootouts following a goalless draw in normal time in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Copa America all-time winners Argentina are on course to extend their run to 16 titles thanks to a 4-2 spot kick victory over Ecuador after a 1-1 draw in the 90 minutes on Friday.
Venezuela and Canada were also separated by spot kicks 4-3 in favour of the latter following a one-all stalemate after normal time on Friday.
Only Colombia managed to advance in normal time thrashing Panama 5-0 on Saturday, extending their winning streak to four games at this tournament.
Lionel Messi’s Argentina will face Canada in the semifinals on Wednesday which will be a repeat of the Group A meeting won by La Seleccion.
In the other semifinal, Uruguay will battle Colombia on Thursday, a fixture that will excite Liverpool fans with Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz meeting.
Argentina has won it 15 times, Uruguay twice, Colombia once whilst Canada are playing at their maiden Copa America and Jesse Marsch’s charges are taking everyone by surprise.
