As the countdown to the Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon continues, the UBL Running Club is intensifying its preparations for the highly anticipated event set for August 24 in Kasese.
The marathon, now in its third edition, has sparked excitement among various running clubs, including UBL, Team Matooke, and the Hashers, who are meeting weekly to prepare.
Yesterday evening, UBL’s Running Club gathered at Uganda Breweries in Luzira for a 5km run, part of their collective training activities leading up to the marathon.
The event attracted participation from UBL staff, marathon enthusiasts, and brand custodians, including Project Manager Patience Aguti, who joined in the run.
“The excitement for the third edition of the Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon is truly infectious. I love the energy and enthusiasm of everyone planning on being with us in Kasese. We can’t wait to welcome runners and tourists to this spectacular event,” said Aguti.
The UBL Running Club’s activities serve as a precursor to the main event, underscoring the brand’s commitment to promoting fitness and well-being among its employees and the wider community.
“Our brand custodians and staff members alike are thrilled about the marathon, which is expected to draw over 4,000 participants, including both runners and tourists. We are excited for what is yet to come,” Aguti added.
The Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon promises an unforgettable experience for participants, offering them the opportunity to run on a certified race course for the 10km, 21km, and 42km distances.
Beyond the race, this year’s edition is expected to significantly impact the Kasese region’s economy, enhance sports tourism, and spotlight the importance of environmental conservation.
