ABSA Bank Uganda committed a SHS 270M sponsorship package for the prestigious golf event and will be joined by MTN Uganda, Aquafina, Pinnacle Security, Orchard Interiors, Medisell and Case Medical Services as the other sponsors.

With the action set to be broadcast live on NBS Sport and other Next Media platforms, golfers are guaranteed an exciting experience from the par 71 lakeside course.

Veteran Kenyan Dismas Indiza who stunned Uganda’s Ronald Rugumayo in the closing stages of the tournament to win the pro category is the record seven-time winner while budding talent Godfrey Nsubuga won last year’s amateurs’ title.

Uganda Golf Union president Jackson Were “As the Union we are excited to advance this property and allow the players to showcase their talent. We believe that the different categories are going to enjoy the game at one of the oldest clubs in the East and Central region.”

“We invite professionals who will play for SHS 150M – an increase by 50% from the last four years. The amateurs will play for the usual world ranking points and we will also give them money. The juniors will start first along with the ladies and seniors,” Were stated.

The 2024 Johnnie Walker Uganda Golf Open is expected to attract hundreds of local and international golfers.
