The 2024/25 season of the Pepsi University Football League (UFL) got underway with a captivating 1-1 draw between Uganda Christian University (UCU) and St. Lawrence University at the UCU football grounds in Mukono.
The hosts, UCU, took an early lead in the 30th minute through a beautifully executed free-kick by Abiti Harry.
However, St. Lawrence responded swiftly, equalizing just three minutes later with Ziraba Ronnie finding the back of the net.
Both teams continued to push for a winning goal, creating several chances throughout the match. Despite their best efforts, neither side could break the deadlock, resulting in a share of the spoils.
The draw leaves St. Lawrence winless against UCU in their league history.
Both teams now find themselves tied on one point each in Group C.
The Pepsi University Football League will continue on Thursday, September 19th, with a Group B fixture between Makerere University and Victoria University at the Makerere University playgrounds.
