Ugandan football coach Paul Nkata has been dismissed from his role at Kagera Sugar, a Tanzanian Premier League club, following a disappointing start to the 2024/25 season.
This decision comes amid a series of underwhelming performances, reflecting a continuation of struggles from the previous season.
After seven matches, Kagera Sugar has managed only one win and one draw, placing them in the relegation zone at 14th position with just four points in the 16-team league.
The team has faced consecutive losses, including a 1-0 defeat to Kanondini MC and a 3-1 loss to Fountain Gate.
Under Nkata’s management, Kagera Sugar’s poor form was evident early in the season, with three straight defeats: 1-0 against Singida Black Stars, 2-0 against Young Africans, led by Uganda Cranes captain Khalid Aucho, and another 1-0 loss to Tabora United.
As Kagera Sugar prepares for its next challenge, they will look to turn their fortunes around in an away fixture against Pamba on October 21, following the international break.
The club is now tasked with finding a new head coach to guide them out of their current predicament and rekindle hopes for a successful season.
