National Pool League: Capital Night Condemn Rox Berry to First Loss of Season

Rox Berry’s unbeaten run in the 2024 Men’s National Pool League came to a halt on matchday 9 after a narrow 11-09 home defeat to Capital Night on Sunday, October 13.

The loss drops Rox Berry, who had been league leaders, to third place in the standings.

Coming into the clash, Capital Night, who who the league title in 2015 and 2019, had had a rough start to their season, registering only one win, three draws, and four losses in their first eight matches.

However, they bounced back impressively against newcomers Rox Berry, securing a much-needed victory.

This crucial win however still leaves them 10th on the log, but leaves Capital Night with the same points as 8th placed Sinkers and 9th placed Wakiso City, who drew with eachother over the weekend.

While Rox Berry stumbled, Upper Volta and Scrap Buyers took full advantage.

Upper Volta now top the league table with 29 points after a commanding 14-06 victory, despite missing key players Chandiga Ceasar and Wagaba Rashid.

Scrap Buyers also had a stellar outing, demolishing Nakawa Pool Rangers 17-3 in an away fixture, earning both three points and a bonus to climb to second place with 27 points.

Other notable results saw Tororo Tigers edge Mbale 11-09 in an intense Eastern derby, while Greater Mukono comfortably beat Club 408 13-07.

Meanwhile, Adi’s Pool Club eked out a tight 11-09 win against E-Play Billiards, as Corporate Shooters dispatched Pot-It with a 12-08 scoreline.

After match day 9, the bottom half of the table remains unchanged, and the stakes are high going into next weekend’s matches.
