Kenya and Tanzania have emerged victorious from the CECAFA zonal qualifiers for the TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025.

Both teams booked their spots in the finals after winning their respective semi-final matches played on October 18th in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Kenya secured a convincing 4-0 win against Burundi in the second semi-final.

Spanish-based striker Aldrine Kibet was the star of the show, netting a hat-trick. Kelvin Wangaya added another goal to seal the deal for Kenya.

Coach Salim Bab Ndarai expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance and their focus now shifts to preparing for the final.

The first semi-final saw Tanzania edge out Uganda 2-1. After a goalless first half, Uganda took the lead through Brian Toto early in the second half.

However, Tanzania fought back with Sabri Kondo equalizing in the 71st minute. Substitute Jammy Jammy then scored the winning goal in extra time, sending the home fans into a frenzy and securing Tanzania’s place in the final.

The final match between Kenya and Tanzania will be a rematch of their group stage encounter, which Kenya won 1-0.
