The AFRIYEA Golf Academy’s Junior Holiday Golf Camp is in full swing at Toro Club, bringing together over 40 budding golfers aged 4 to 18 for its flagship holiday program. Now entering its second week, the camp is already proving to be an unforgettable experience for young golfers in Fort Portal.
Launched on December 2, 2024, the program will run through February 2025. This year, AFRIYEA Golf Academy has elevated its training initiatives by dividing the camp into two distinct sessions: the December Non-Residential Junior Holiday Golf Camp and the upcoming New Year Junior Golf Camp, set to start in January.
Children from more than 14 regions across Uganda, currently on their long school break, are taking part in the camp. It provides an excellent opportunity for young players to enhance their skills under the guidance of experienced coaches and mentors while building friendships and embracing sportsmanship. From mastering swing techniques to improving putting accuracy, every element of the game is taught in a structured yet enjoyable setting.
“This is my first time playing golf, and I’m already falling in love with the sport. I’ve learned how to grip, putt, and drive, and my coach says my swing is improving daily. I can’t wait to show my friends what I’ve learned,” Jotham Deham.
For parents, the camp offers more than just golf. “This program is instilling life skills like discipline, respect, and confidence. My children can’t stop talking about their new golf lessons and the friendships they’ve made with other kids from diverse backgrounds,” said Annet Namatovu.
“This program has made their holiday both enjoyable and unique. I encourage other parents to enroll their children as well.”
“Golf is a sport that builds character. We’re teaching these kids to be resilient, patient, and, most importantly, to have fun while honing their skills,” added Coach Happy Robert.
Isaiah Mwesige, CEO of AFRIYEA Golf Academy, highlighted the broader mission of the camp: “This program embodies our commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and excellence in grassroots golf development. It’s incredible to see the next generation of Ugandan golfers emerge, and we’re honored to be part of their journey.”
With the December session gaining momentum, excitement is already building for the New Year Junior Golf Camp in January. Featuring fresh drills, competitive activities, and more opportunities for growth.
