Dirisa Kasalirwe has officially resumed his role as the Chairman of the Kampala Region Football Association following his reinstatement at a ceremony held at the FUFA Complex in Mengo on Friday, January 17.
The event was officiated by FUFA CEO Edgar Watson, marking the end of Kasalirwe’s months-long suspension and investigation.
In a statement, FUFA reiterated the findings of its Investigatory Chamber, which had cleared Kasalirwe of any wrongdoing.
“The FUFA Investigatory Chamber of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee cleared Kasalirwe to resume his involvement in football-related activities following the completion of formal investigations into a complaint filed against him for alleged violations of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code,” read part of the statement.
Kasalirwe had been provisionally suspended in August 2024, alongside his vice-chairman, Peter Nkugwa, amid allegations of ethical misconduct.
The suspension followed claims that Nkugwa solicited money from referees in exchange for nominations to the FUFA National Referee’s Badge and that both leaders had breached the duties of loyalty, general responsibilities, and abuse of position.
The investigatory chamber conducted a thorough examination of the allegations, ultimately concluding that there was insufficient evidence to substantiate any claims against Kasalirwe.
With his reinstatement, Kasalirwe is expected to spearhead initiatives aimed at fostering development and unity in Kampala’s football ecosystem.
