The She Cranes endured another setback at the Vitality Netball Nations Cup 2025, falling 60-45 to Malawi on Sunday in Nottingham, England.
The loss marks Uganda’s second consecutive defeat in the tournament after their opening 75-40 loss to South Africa.
Despite a determined start, Uganda struggled to keep pace with a well-organized Malawi Queens side, who dominated the game with sharp attacking play and solid defensive pressure.
The She Cranes fought hard to close the gap, but Malawi’s accuracy in shooting and ability to capitalize on Uganda’s errors proved decisive. By halftime, Malawi had built a comfortable lead, which they maintained until the final whistle.
The loss leaves Uganda still searching for their first win in the tournament, with only one match remaining against England on February 8.
Facing the world No. 4-ranked Vitality Roses, Uganda will need a vastly improved performance to avoid finishing the competition winless.
Despite the setbacks, the She Cranes have shown flashes of brilliance in both games, particularly in their attacking transitions.
A strong showing against England could help restore confidence and provide valuable experience on the international stage.
