Ugandan forward Fazila Ikwaput delivered a stunning performance in the Indian Women’s League (IWL), scoring all four goals as Gokulam Kerala thrashed Sethu FC 4-1 in Chennai on Friday.
The prolific striker, who has been in sensational form this season, now boasts 14 goals in just six matches, including three hat-tricks.
Ikwaput wasted no time making her mark, opening the scoring in the 10th minute after latching onto a long ball from Asem Roja Devi and beating Sethu’s Khambi Chanu with a clinical finish.
Ten minutes later, she struck again, slotting home another through ball from Roja to double Gokulam’s lead.
Sethu FC responded in the 25th minute when Phanjoubam Nirmala Devi curled in a goal directly from a corner, but despite their efforts to equalize in the second half, they could not break Gokulam’s defense.
Ikwaput completed her hat-trick on the hour mark, once again capitalizing on Sethu’s defensive lapses.
She added her fourth in the 88th minute, sealing a dominant display with a powerful strike from a tight angle.
Gokulam Kerala’s victory keeps them unbeaten in the league, moving to 14 points, just one behind leaders East Bengal. Sethu FC remains on 10 points from six matches.
Elsewhere, another Ugandan, Joanitah Ainembazi, found the net for Kickstart FC, scoring in the 70th minute against Odisha FC.
However, her team was denied a win as Odisha struck late through Lynda Kom to force a 1-1 draw. Despite their strong performance, Kickstart remains winless in the league, sitting seventh with just three points from six games.
With Ikwaput and Ainembazi making headlines, Ugandan players continue to leave their mark in the IWL. Both players were included in Botes’ provisional squad for the WAFCON 2026 qualifiers.
