Arsenal forward Kai Havertz has confirmed he underwent successful surgery to repair the hamstring injury that prematurely ended his season.
The 25-year-old German international sustained the injury during a warm-weather training camp in Dubai, the club revealed last week.
Havertz shared a photo from his hospital bed on Instagram, expressing the emotional toll of the injury and the relief of a successful procedure.
“The last few days have been tough to process both physically and mentally. But yesterday was a good day. A successful op and a win,” he wrote. He also thanked fans for their support, saying the messages had been a source of strength.
The injury is a significant blow to Arsenal, as Havertz had been a key contributor this season, scoring 15 goals before being sidelined.
He now faces a period of rehabilitation that is expected to extend into the team’s pre-season preparations for the next campaign.
Havertz’s injury compounds Arsenal’s woes, as they are currently dealing with a number of other attacking absences. Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli are also currently sidelined, severely limiting manager Mikel Arteta’s attacking options.
The team’s recent 2-0 victory against Leicester, where midfielder Mikel Merino scored both goals after coming off the bench, highlighted the team’s resilience in the face of these challenges.
Merino’s unexpected heroics offered a temporary solution to their attacking crisis.
While the win against Leicester offered a boost, the long-term absence of Havertz and other key players will undoubtedly test Arsenal’s squad depth and Arteta’s tactical ingenuity as they navigate the remainder of the season.
