Rugby Africa President Herbert Mensah has arrived in Uganda for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening the development of the sport in the country.
Accompanied by World Rugby Africa Partnerships Manager Coralie Van Den Berg, Mensah will engage with key stakeholders, including government officials, corporate partners, and the Uganda Olympic Committee, from March 3rd to 5th, 2025.
The visit comes at a pivotal moment as Uganda continues preparations to host the 2025 Rugby Africa Cup in July.
Following a successful edition of the tournament last year, discussions will focus on the country’s readiness to deliver another high-quality event.
Additionally, the meetings will explore rugby development initiatives such as Olympic Solidarity support for Uganda Sevens, grassroots expansion programs, and broader collaboration with Rugby Africa and World Rugby.
As part of the engagement, the Uganda Rugby Union (URU) will host a press conference on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025.
The event will feature Minister of State for Sports Hon. Peter Ogwang, Mensah, Van Den Berg, and URU leadership, providing an official update on Uganda’s Rugby Africa Cup preparations and long-term development plans for the sport.
