Thousands Brave the Rain for the 3rd Edition of the Absa 7 Hills Run

Not even the heavy rain could dampen the spirit of over 5,000 runners who turned up for the third edition of the Absa 7 Hills Run at Millennium Grounds, Lugogo.

The annual event, dedicated to supporting underprivileged girls in Uganda, saw participants take on the grueling 21km, 10km, and 5km courses through Kampala’s iconic seven hills.

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director Sharifa Buzeki officially flagged off the race, reaffirming KCCA’s commitment to uplifting the girl child. She was joined by Acting Director David Wandera, with both officials actively participating in the 5km run.

Organized by Absa Bank Uganda in partnership with the Kampala Hash House Harriers (KH3), the event continues to make strides in funding education and menstrual hygiene programs for disadvantaged girls across the country.

The 21km route challenged elite runners with an endurance test through Kibuli, Nakasero, Old Kampala, Namirembe, Rubaga, Lubiri, and Nsambya.

Brian Adam Ategeka emerged as the overall champion in the men’s category, completing the course in 1 hour, 24 minutes, and 32 seconds. In the women’s division, Evas Nasasira dominated with a winning time of 2 hours, 6 minutes, and 2 seconds.

Ategeka walked away with a land title, courtesy of Bakayima, while other winners received cash prizes and assorted rewards.

Additionally, the top two male and female runners secured spots to represent Uganda in the prestigious 2025 Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series in South Africa, a highly competitive 10km road race.

The event concluded in celebratory fashion with an electrifying performance from Ugandan music sensation Rema Namakula, capping off a day of endurance, resilience, and community impact.
