Uganda’s junior table tennis players delivered a commanding performance at the 2025 East Africa Junior Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship, held in Nairobi, Kenya from April 10th to 15th, sweeping nearly all the top honors in both individual and team events.
In the girls’ singles category, Uganda completed a clean sweep of the podium. Mirembe Judith from Iganga TT Kids Club clinched the gold medal, with her clubmate Kirabira Judith securing silver. Patience Anyango of Nakasero TT Club rounded off the top three with a bronze finish.
The boys’ singles event mirrored Uganda’s dominance, as players from Nakasero TT Club occupied all three podium spots. Ali Kalisa took top honors with a gold medal, followed by Opio Evans with silver and Gilbert Fadwa earning bronze.
Uganda’s supremacy extended to the team events, where both the boys’ and girls’ teams secured gold, underscoring the country’s growing strength in regional table tennis.
Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) President Robert Jjagwe commended the players and coaches for their stellar performance.
“Our players continued to prove that they are truly a dominant force in East Africa,” Jjagwe said.
He also praised the coaching staff—Isaac Bageya of Iganga TT Kids Club and Iddi Wotsosi of Nakasero TT Club—for their dedicated guidance.
The UTTA President further extended appreciation to the individuals supporting grassroots development in the sport, acknowledging Mary Musoke of Nakasero TT Club and Mark Winter of Iganga TT Kids Club for their consistent backing.
Jjagwe also expressed gratitude to the Kenya Table Tennis Association, led by President Andrew Mudibo and Secretary General Fadh Daime, for hosting the championship and ensuring a well-organized event.
“God is great and God loves table tennis,” Jjagwe concluded in his message celebrating Uganda’s achievements.
