In a tense Luwero Zonal Qualifiers final, Standard High School Zana (Ndejje Campus) aka STAHIZA edged past Ndejje SSS to claim the district championship after a goalless draw in regulation time.
The decisive clash took place at Bamusuuta Secondary School in Kiboga District, leaving spectators on edge throughout the evenly matched battle.
Despite both teams creating several scoring opportunities, neither side managed to find the back of the net during normal play.
STAHIZA ultimately emerged victorious, marking a significant milestone for the school in district-level football.
Meanwhile, Ssaku SS secured third place with a 2-0 win in the playoff match.
In girls’ football, drama unfolded as Kayindu SS defeated Katikamu SDA Kyankwanzi Campus 5-4 in a nail-biting penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw. Kateera Trust celebrated a narrow victory over Lutamaguzi SS, courtesy of a one-goal score.
Netball also had its shining moments, with Amazing Grace HS (Luwero District) clinching gold in the U16 category. Homeland SS and Target Community College took silver and bronze, respectively.
Individual Achievements
The qualifiers also saw standout performances from star players.
Football Girls: Nabbenga Grace of Amazing Grace HS topped the charts with 15 goals, while Kayindu’s Nakazi Sofia was honored as the Best Goalie, conceding just three goals. Maureen Nakyonyi (Kayindu) was named MVP.
Football Boys: Kizza Abdulkarim (STAHIZA) emerged as the top scorer with eight goals, Opio Emmanuel Gabriel received the Best Goalie award, and Okello Gum Daniel (Ndejje SSS) was recognized as MVP.
